Budget Hotels Victoria

Anyone have any suggestions in a day (s) travel from Seattle?
I heard Mt. Rainier is a long trip from Seattle. I am visiting next summer in Seattle and wanted to get off the mountain. Rainier and / or go to Victoria BC, but it seems to only have time for either us being there for only one week. Does anyone out there have any advice on what to see? Victoria or the mountain. Rainier will be a better place to visit if you only have a week or so? Or is there anything else you suggest? We are in a somewhat limited budget, so I'm not sure how many things you can do in a big city like Victoria, anyway, the more we have to consider the cost of hotel in a city too big. I'm considering a road trip to Mt. Rainier as we were not be fun, but do not want to be completely bored out of our minds! Suggestions would be a great help as I really want to know what we can do in a week it would be fun and inexpensive as possible for the young newlyweds who have never been on the west coast. Thanks!
Mt Rainier and Victoria are two day trips very different. Mt Rainier is really more of a scenic drive / outdoors / travel kind of a day of hiking. Getting there is not so bad, but driving around of the mountain and back to Seattle makes a long day … but totally worth it!
If you've never been in a volcanic mountain before, then this is definitely would be my recommendation. Victoria is well, but really, unless you have money to spend on any of the empress or Buchart gardens (Not to mention the boat ride to get there) can not be for you. Having a day does not mean that they can only see some things and then going back to the boat. Another suggestion would Leavenworth, Washington. It is the "Bavarian-style village in the Cascades. It is a beautiful drive out there and the city itself has plenty of small shops wineries, great German food and beer, etc. In short, a great day. Another suggestion might be to Deception Pass State Park. It's a beautiful park with a lot of landscapes, trips, etc. .. and then you can south on Whidbey Island and go to places such as Coupeville (Practical Magic, which was filmed) or Langley … those are two nice cities in the water. If you can spend the night somewhere, you might also consider a quick trip to Vancouver. It's very nice there … as in Seattle, but larger. Another day trip to another would be out of Ocean Shores. If you've never been to the West Coast, which would be your best bet to see the Pacific Ocean. In Ocean Shores, you can even drive on the beach (and maybe watch the sunset …. romantic, huh?)
